Math Survey Week of 4-28-2008
Note: Block scheduling this week. Periods 2, 4, 6, & 8 will have class on Monday and Tuesday, and Periods 1, 3, 5, & 7 will have class on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is a half day of school, all classes will meet.
Monday: Lesson 12 Hands on Equations
Goal: Another way of solving/simplifying the equation is to add the same number of pawns top both sides.
- Review of Rules in Solving Equations (Hands-On)
- Equation Must Stay Balanced
- Remove Equal Pawns (X) from Both Sides
- Remove Equal Numbers From Both Sides
- Distributive Property
- Opposites on Same Side Equal 0
- Add Zero to Both Sides
- Worksheet 11 Completed and due
- Hands-On Equations Lesson 12.
- Add same number of pawns to both sides.
- Worksheet for understanding
- Problem Solving Activity when finished
Tuesday: Quiz Lessons 8 – 12 Hands-On Equations
Goal: Solve equations using manipulatives to simplify the equations.
- Quiz on Lessons 8 – 12.
- Work Time on Problem Solving Activity
- Hand-On Equations Lesson 13 (When all are completed with the quiz)
- o Reduce number cubes to only on side of the set-up
- o Worksheet for practice and understanding
Friday Half Day of School: Finish Problem solving activity
- Complete and turn in Lesson 13
- Finish up Problem for the week
