Algebra Week of 4-28-2008

April 27, 2008

Note: Block scheduling this week.  Periods 2, 4, 6, & 8 will have class on Monday and Tuesday, and Periods 1, 3, 5, & 7 will have class on Wednesday and Thursday.  Friday is a half day of school, all classes will meet.

Monday:  AIA Project Relations; Writing a Rule

Goal:  Finish up AIA project #1 with developing rules (equations for lines on a graph)

  • AIA Part 1 (Started last week)
    • Four rules found
    • Checked by teacher
  • AIA Part 2 (Use rule to find which ordered pair fits which rule)
    • Most groups started last week
    • Put x number in the rule and calculate to see if you get the y
  • AIA Part 3 (Discover other rules)
    • Graph several ordered pairs
    • Separate them into linear lines
    • Write rules for each of these lines
  • Turn in all 3 parts of project
  • AIA Relations Quiz (Covers Lessons 7-1, 7-2, & 7-3)
  • Lesson 7-4 Worksheet/Activity
    • Scatter Plots

Tuesday:  AIA Project Slopes (Enemy Camps)

Goal:  Students are intelligence officers and have intercepted a coded directional path.  They will follow a path created by slopes to discover enemy camp locations.  They will then write the names of the roads (Slope-intercept form) going into and out of camps.

  • 5-Minute Check over Lesson 7-4
  • AIA Slope directives
    • Graph Paper
    • Straight edge
  • Create lines given by following the slopes in the data.
  • Find Enemy Camps
  • Write equations in Slope-Intercept Form for the roads going in and out of camps.
  • Create false directions to give to the enemy.
